Slow Wi-Fi? Data gone?
Now you’ll know why.
Hotspot data that vanishes. A backup choking your call. Wi-Fi that is slow for no clear reason.
“What’s the Wi-Fi password?” Show guests a QR code to scan.
Will this call hold up? See if calls, video and streaming will work.
Hotspot data gone in an hour? Travel blocks backups and updates.
Do not run out of data. Hit your budget and new connections stop.
Getting warmer. Keep going.
DNS lookups are slow. Compare Cloudflare or Google DNS, then restore Automatic if it does not help.
Slow internet, but why? Kilobat checks Wi-Fi, router, internet and DNS, and names the culprit.

Questions, answered.
Is the CLI really free?
Yes. The Kilobat CLI is free and open source under GPL-3.0. Every command works without an account or a license key.
Will it save data on my phone’s hotspot?
Yes. Travel blocks every app you have not allowed, and it can switch on by itself when macOS reports a metered network such as a personal hotspot. Add a data budget and Kilobat stops new connections once you reach it.
What do I get without paying?
The menu-bar app with live traffic for every app, the Wi-Fi picker with password and QR sharing, speed tests, and the full CLI. Pro adds blocking profiles, data budgets, connection diagnosis, signal radar and history.
What happens when the Pro trial ends?
The free features keep working. Pro features lock until you buy. Kilobat does not change your existing network rules, and Settings stays available so you can turn filtering off.
Do I need to enable the network filter?
Only to enforce app and website rules. Monitoring and diagnostics work without it. Kilobat asks macOS for permission when you choose to turn filtering on.
Does Kilobat collect or sell my network data?
No. Traffic history, network names and rules stay on your Mac. Diagnostics contact test services, and purchase activation and update checks contact their services. Read the privacy notice for details.
Will Kilobat make my internet faster?
Not by itself, and nothing honest can promise that. It shows you where the slowdown is, whether that is weak Wi-Fi, a slow router, your provider or DNS, and stops background apps from competing for a limited connection.
Is this a VPN?
No. Kilobat monitors and manages your Mac’s connections. It does not route your traffic through a VPN server or hide your IP address.
